Sleepy Birthday Boy & The Dancing King
Owen had an awesome time at his birthday party!

I was really happy with the way the cakes turned out. And, there you can get a sneak peek at some of his birthday photo shoot with Jenny. Below you can catch a glimpse of what I did with some of my favorite poses from the photo shoot (look on the fridge). I put magnets on the back of some wallet-sized pictures, added a "thanks for coming"-type sticker and VOILA! There you have instant party favors. :)

Here he is asking PLEASE for his birthday cake. He has on a onesie and matching bib I found at http://www.etsy.com/.

He got cake EVERYWHERE! Including up his nose and on his long, beautiful eyelashes.

He didn't care too much about the gift opening... but, he LOVED this superman cape that was attached to that cute superman bag! It even had straps so you could wear the bag to show off your superman abs! LOL!
He didn't get cranky or even act tired until after everyone left! However, he did get very sleepy. And, I just HAD to document that. See? :)
It's okay to laugh. We sure did!

I am keeping Owen home during the summer, as much as possible. It's much cheaper to NOT go. His daycare is nearly out of town & it takes about 30 minutes each trip to get there.
Anywho. Today, my little man decided to show me that he knows how to dance. I love that he understands the concept of dancing/music appreciation. :) So, I quickly grabbed my camera & took this little video. Watch out for the big kiss at the end... you might get slobber on you! :)

One Year Ago, Today!
Owen was born at 4:57 pm on Tuesday, June 3rd.
He weighed in at a tiny 6 pounds, 10 ounces. He's now 22 pounds!
He was 19 and a half inches long. He's now 27 and a half inches tall.
He still looks just like his big brother, Caleb...except, he has dark brown/black hair, and hazel/green eyes.
He has long fingers and toes (really long - piano playing, even). He now has 8 teeth and is a walking, signing, happy boy! He's a rough and tough guy who has no fear!
We are completely in love with him. Happy FIRST Birthday, baby!!!

Nice head shot
We have a photo shoot scheduled with Jenny for his first birthday. I jokingly told her that we would try to keep his nugget free from more bumps and bruises (when we scheduled the shoot). Owen is good at walking... most of the time. I jinxed it. Yesterday, he tripped over nothing and bonked his forehead and nose. But, not just a little. A LOT. I keep saying that this boy will have stitches before he is 18 months old.

Please notice his forehead bump AND scratches, and scratches and bruises on his nose - in TWO places. Nice head shot potential, right?! :)

Birthday invite
Caleb funnies
So, we were at a BBQ on Saturday. Mommy was playing Wii with Erica. There was a lot of "you suck" being flung about the room. All of a sudden, Caleb pipes in with a "Mommy, you suck!"
That was quickly corrected. Man, it's tough to come up with another phrase that is equally adequate.
When getting a cupcake at the same BBQ, Caleb told my friend Amanda that "your Dad wants one, too." Her "dad" was her hubby, Daniel. He's not living that one down, either.
Amanda was making a comment to me to "shut my mouth," knowing full well that shut up is a no-no from Caleb. He very primly told her, "That is not a nice thing to say. A better thing to say is hush." Um... yes, yes it is. Sure.
AND, on Saturday night, I was getting ready for bed. Putting on my jammies and all. Caleb tells me that he sees my underwear... I respond with, "I see yours too!" Then he says, "I see your boobs!" Uh, no. We don't use that word. So, without missing a beat I inform him, "Boobs is not a nice way to say that. A better thing to say is chest." He informed me that he knew that was my chests, too. Nice.

In two weeks...
In the LAST two weeks:
Owen had two more teeth pop into his little mouth. For those of you playing at home, that brings his teeth total to 8! EIGHT! All before he turns one!
He learned how to walk nearly everywhere.
He learned to sign many, many words and is excited to show it off.
Caleb was SO sick that he missed 5 days of school.
He graduated from pre-school -- for the first time (he'll do it again next year).
He has become such a great helper.
My hubby finished his first full year of nursing school.
He ran KOA several times, and tried to invite me (I said no!).
He and I went on a date (for the fist time in over two years!).
We got new phones and have become texting fools! (as in HE has sent over 1100 in two weeks and I have over 500. Obsessed much?)
In the NEXT two weeks:
I have awards at Glenn. Let me just say, LOTS OF WORK ON MY END!
School will be out. (can I get an AMEN?!)
My aunt from Florida (the crazy one) will be visiting and meeting my kids for the first time.
I have to plan a first birthday party for Owen! OH MY GOODNESS!!! Where did the time go?!
So, um, please try to leave the first Saturday in June open to attend a little boy's first birthday party. K?

Sick Boys
Both of my boys are sick.
Caleb has a non-confirmed case of rotovirus.
Owen has a case of stinky diaper & a low grade fever.
Soooooo, I may nave to stay home with both boys tomorrow.
This is not a really big deal. I'd love to spend the day at home with the boys... I don't have tp prep anything for school since I still have my student teacher (for another week, yet).
But, I don't want to use a day so late in the year, & not because the boys are sick. There's really not much I can do to make them feel better... it's just a matter of giving them time.
Oh well... we knew we were signing up for this part, too, when we became parents. Right?
