I am a little ticked right now.
My hubby is not helping in the anti-stress area.
Monday, it was, "I am not prepared to have a child that will need surgery from the get-go. I guess I'll have to put off nursing school for a year." WHAT?! No one said that!
Tuesday, it was, "An overnight stay?! Is this covered in what we've already paid? How much is this going to cost us?!" How is that helpful?!
Today, I showed him the official orders from my doctor. #7 said pelvic rest. No intercourse. I've been very skimpy and not into it this pregnancy. In fact, only twice since the new year. Today, he says, "GREAT! By the time you heal and we can, it will have only been twice in a year. That brings a whole other kind of frustration on a whole other level!" Again, how is that helpful. I already feel horrible for denying him previously. What to do...

Bed rest
I have to make this quick. I am supposed to be laying down...not even in a recliner.
It's official. I am on bed rest. I went in for my follow-up appointment yesterday. My bp was 140/80. That's not too bad, but it's worth looking at. My 1/2 gallon of water was a good idea. I nearly floated into the office. Dr. decided to do a Non-stress test on Owen. This means I lay in the office for 15-30 minutes, hooked up to 2 monitors. One measures his heartbeat and one measures just in case I have contractions. Sure enough, I was having mild contractions (I didn't even know I was having them). But, every time I would have a contraction, Owen's heart rate would steadily fall.
So, I was admitted to L & D for further monitoring and to get another sonogram. The sonogram was good. Owen showed 8/8 points...whatever that means (movement, responses, breathing practice, heartbeat, etc.). His kidneys are still dilated (meaning I go once a week at least for more sonograms to check that out). There's still nothing we can do or anything we should worry about for the time being. I did get a steroid shot in the bootie, just in case he has to be delivered THIS WEEK because he's stressed.
I ended up staying overnight for monitoring. Dr. came in this morning and said that Owen responded just fine throughout the night. I did take an Ambien to help me sleep. Still woke up at 5, though.
So, what does this all mean? I am at home. Restricted to bed except to pee, shower, or fix a small something to eat. I may drive to my doctors appointment (Friday morning). Other than that I must lay down on my right or left side. Also, I am on pelvic "rest." As in, no adult activities, and she won't even check me until I make it to our new goal of Mother's day. 2 weeks. That will make Owen officially full term. He'd still be pre-term if he was delivered this week.
So that is where we stand...errr lay down, at this point. 8 ounces of water per hour while awake, and lots of laying down. There are worse things ... but, please...please just pray that Owen is active, and stays in there to be cooked as long as God wills it. Thanks!

33 week sonogram
The technician at my sonogram was so sweet!
Sabrina went with me, since Brant had to work - first day on the new job as a monitor technician. It was a fun, sweet experience.
The technician told me stuff that she "didn't tell me." My doctor gets pretty upset if a mere technician "interprets" the sonogram stuff. So, I don't know any of this. But, I'm telling you, anywho.

- Owen is still a boy.
- His kidneys are still open (can't fix it yet, and nothing we can do until he comes out. It may correct itself after he learns to pee...and no, I don't know what that really means.).
- He has hair on his head.
- His heart is strong and beating very well.
- He is measuring at 35 weeks (making my due date June 5th).
- He is approximately 5 pounds, 4 ounces.
- and breech.
OMG! That means when I've been pushing on him, just below my ribcage - that's been his head!!! OOPS! That settles it for me. He'll come c-section...unless he changes position. But, I can't tell my doc that, until she tells me which direction he's facing. I am so ready to have him here!!!

Lab Results aka I'm not listening
So, I checked our house phone (aka 3rd cell phone we never use) on Friday morning. There was a message from my doc that said, "Your lab results are in. We need to talk. Please call me."
OH, poo!
My protein and creatinine levels were far too high. So, here goes. I was dehydrated, and pissed off at a certain someone at school. So, doc "recommends" bed rest. *Insert rationalization schpeel, beginning here*
I'm thinking, Uh, no! I'm not ready, yet. I still have ankles! No kankles, even! I check my blood pressure...it's 123/93. So, I say ... to everyone that will listen to my rationalization-ing... I am going to just take it easy. Sit at school. Monday, I have to only work until 4th period because I have a sonogram at 2. Tuesday, (the first day of TAKS) I am to answer phones ... while sitting down ... in the guidance center. Then, my follow-up appointment is that afternoon. I can freak out at home, while on the "recommended" bed rest about how my stuff is not ready for a permanent substitute, OR, I can sit on my butt, not losing days of sick leave and prepare for the situation that is coming. AND, IF she "recommends" bed rest again on Tuesday... then FINE...I'll do it. I'll have my end in order...and won't be freaking out at home...just raising my blood pressure.
*end of rationalization* So, yeah. That's where I stand...errr, sit. I had big plans this weekend to make it awesomely outdoorsy for Caleb. 2 birthday parties, a baby shower, swimming at the health club, fun in the sun, Church, the Spring Chicken Affair, the Children's Fair, uncle Stephen's birthday, more swimming at the health club...etc.
Instead, I went to the baby shower, sans Caleb. Brant took Caleb to ONE of the birthday parties. We ALL went to the health club to swim (so I didn't have to be in charge of Caleb). I got a pedicure with my buddy. (Cute toenails, I might add). Today, we'll go to church and we MAY go swimming. The rest of the day I will be sitting at Dad's...doing paperwork and grading *ick* papers.
I WILL be super hydrated by the time I pee in the cup on Tuesday. That's my plan, anywho.

32 weeks
Let me just say that it MUST be a full moon. People are crazy...talk is cheap...but mean.
With that said...ahem.
After a stress-filled morning I went to the doctor for my 32 week appointment.
I am up 2 pounds in 2 weeks. Good.
My pulse is 80. Good.
My protein was at +2. NOT good.
My blood pressure was 140/80. Also, NOT good.
I had to have labs done to check the protein more and for something I don't remember, too.
I go back on Tuesday for a follow-up.
So, if you're the praying type...let's pray for good blood pressure and good lab results. Otherwise, I might be in bed until the end of May. POOEY!

163
Nope. That is not how many days I've been pregnant or even my weight.
That was my heart-rate this morning.
I was dizzy and had to use the wall to support myself to the teacher's lounge. I sat for 5 minutes and then went to see Sarah, in the guidance center. She took my blood pressure and my heart rate with a monitor/machine. My blood pressure was 118/80 (normal) and my heart rate was 163. I made it to our AP's office, and sat down. I was feeling faint. Not normal. Woozy, even. Frank came in and did my heart-rate, again. 110. Still too high. My doctor is out this week...but I called her nurse. She asked me to come straight in to see the doc on call.
So, Frank drove me. What a sweetie! I called Dad to pick me up when I was done. The doc checked my urine for protein (a sign of pre-eclampsyia - which I had with Caleb - and was subsequently put on bed rest...and caused him to arrive 3 weeks early). There was a little...which means to me that we're headed in that same direction. My blood pressure was still normal, but my heart-rate was still elevated at 100.
So, the diagnosis? After sitting during my team meeting, I stood quickly. Owen must have also changed positions, resting on my vena-cava. That's the lower vein out of the heart. This caused blood to pool in my legs for just a second and my heart freaked out. It tried to catch back up and released some epinephrine (the stuff that gets you a bit freaked out during a panic attack). Doc said it would take 4-6 hours to get back to feeling normal.
The prescription? Go home. Rest. Rent a movie. Take the rest of the day to get back into sync. So... I did. I watched August Rush. Cried. It was awesome. I tried to sleep. But, Owen kept kicking the snot out of me as I would start to fall asleep.
My car is at school. We'll deal with that later. My dad will pick up Caleb. All is well. Slow, a bit dizzy, still. But, I'll be back at work, tomorrow. After all, there will be girl scout cookies, AND ice cream. What else is there?!

She's not...
She isn't my mother,
But I cry when I see her.
She's shorter and smaller,
But they have the same laugh.
She always has time for us,
But I still don't see her much.
She loves me as much as she can,
But she's still not my mommy.
When I saw her on Saturday, in her quaint country kitchen,
I had to stop myself from crying.
I gave her a hug and nearly lost it.
She's my Godmother and mom's sister...
and I can see my mom in her.
Man, I miss my mom...
But I cry when I see her.

BWD
Today is a bad weather day.
No, the weather is BEAUTIFUL...but we get to be home from school. So, what 'cha got planned?
Me? I am going to Target and Barbed wire and Roses to register for my shower that my good friends are throwing for us in May. I am being lazy and enjoying the day off...with Caleb gone to school. I might think about being productive and putting stuff up in Owen's room & doing some of the menial chores around the house. I might also get out the baby clothes and wash them. Or, I might not.
My good friend should be calling me today. Or, I might be calling her. Her little boy was scheduled to arrive yesterday. Why are you making him sound like a UPS package? Because, he is. He is her adopted miracle...and she should be able to bring him home early next week. I can't wait to hear all of his details. Anything could happen...so maybe a tiny prayer for them? Thanks!
Anywho, I am off to get ready for the day, finally! Enjoy the beautiful day!

Calebisms
Yesterday, Brant picked up Caleb at school by 3:30. He took Caleb to get his haircut (it's started standing on end...and not cooperating). Brant then brought Caleb to school...and Caleb was in a huggy mood. Everyone got a hug...quickly followed by this cute Calebism:
"I tooked a haircut, today."
:) *grin*
Later, when we met Dad at the airport from his flight from Vegas...and subsequently ate dinner at the Chinese food place there...I took him to the restroom. I wet his hair after we washed hands...because I usually do, and he usually loves it. He responds in a very sad tone, complete with pouty lip and puppy-eyes:
"You spiked my hair! Now I have to took another haircut!"
What a cutie!

I'm ON!!!
Shhhh!
I'm at school. I was able to log on...and ...
I have nothing to say...
except that OWEN is kicking the tar out of me today. Maybe because I am taking the day to sit while my darlings work quietly with computers. I'm not walking around the riverwalk...so...maybe that's it.

8 pm and OUT
We are back from our trip to San Antonio with the state science competitors.
The bus rolled in at 6 pm.
We took 37 kids. Brought home 23. No. We didn't lose any. Parents picked up the rest.
We brought home 2 places. Both at our school. A 3rd and an honorable mention. Both seventh graders.
After emptying our jeep, taking care of our mail and luggage, checking our emails, blogs, and other places, I lay down with Caleb... to "rest."
Brant joined us a few minutes later. They are both snoring away. I am restless. Tired, exhausted, worn out, but restless. It was a good trip. No one was maimed, injured, lost, or forgotten. A good time was had by all...but being 31 weeks pregnant wore me out. I was very blessed to have my hubby and 3-year-old with me...and more so that my darling hubby took care of the aforementioned 3-year-old basically on his own.
I am tired and ready to try to lay down, again. I think. Good times.

Just too darn smart!
We play this silly game with Caleb: when he says he's hungry, we respond with, "Hi, Hungry. I'm Momma!"
His usual response is, "NO! I am CALEB!"
Today...we're waiting for PaPa to pick us up for dinner...and I say, "Man, I am hungry."

Dallas Trip
We're back!
Safe and sound. It was a good trip. We had an opportunity to get away and stole the time, greedily. Dad, Brant, Caleb, my growing tummy, and I went to Dallas this weekend. Here's a little recap of the events:
Friday. 3 pm: I sneak away from school and rush to get Caleb and get home.
4 pm: Dad picks up the Foster clan, and luggage, and away we go!
8:15 pm: We stop in Grand Prairie at my favorite restaurant. Tan's Mongolian BBQ. But, it's not BBQ...it's a grill place that you pick out the stuff, including meats, veggies, pasta, spices, and oils...and they grill it up on a huge, round, open-flamed griddle. It is marvelous. If you have a food allergy - I DO NOT recommend going...you always end up with someone else's goodies.
10 pm: arrive at the hotel, crash into the sleeper-sofa-bed
Saturday: 7 am: wake up, run downstairs and swim for an hour!
8:30: change for the day, and eat a yummy breakfast at the hotel
11:00: shop at Destination Maternity - doing a quick exchange of an online purchase that I did, recently; go see our friends, get the taxes done (finally!), and eat lunch at a place in downtown Dallas called Hook, Line, and Sinker. (Caleb is passed out for most of this, by the way)
2 pm: go to the awesome park across from our friends' house and take some pictures with my boys
5 pm: go let the "older" boys play at the Bass Pro Shop, and eat dinner at Cracker Barrel
9 pm: pass out at the hotel, barely conscious enough when we get there to change clothes.
Sunday: 7 am: repeat Saturday's events at this time (swim, hotel breakfast). *Insert in here a complaint about my upper-uterine pain. On a scale of 1-10, it's a 6. MAJOR headache, too. Neither went away until about noon.*
10 am: go to Borders, and Barnes and Nobles to look at books, and waste time before the next scheduled event.
12:30: meet our friends, again, for lunch at Fadi's Mediterranean. I was not brave enough to eat much there. My tummy has been upset.
3 pm: head home. Stopping only once to potty and get DQ snacks.
7 pm: home. Unpack. Get ready for the week. Oh, and blog.
Now that you are totally bored with the events of this weekend...here are some pictures. Enjoy!

FYI - This is what 30 weeks looks like:
I missed you, my friends...especially my church girls!

Weekend!!!
YAHOO!
It's finally the weekend. This week felt SOOO long for me! But, today is Friday. PRAISE JESUS! Right after school, we are headed to Dallas. We're going to see some friends, do our taxes with said friends (because I don't have the patience to do them - believe it or not), do some shopping, stay in a hotel, and basically just get away! We are so excited. Caleb, especially. He LOVES going to a hotel, swimming, and hanging out with us. But, um. I haven't exactly packed yet. It's 6 am. I need to leave the house by 7:30 to get Caleb to school, and then me, too. Yah. I guess I need to get off of the computer and get going, huh? I pack better (meaning less) at the last minute.
See you all NEXT week! Loves!

Round and Hard
That is a perfect description of my tummy. Owen is just PUSHING so hard on my upper tummy, and it's making it difficult to breathe. I tried pushing him down and he proceeded to kick me in "the pants." Ouch. But, it's a neat feeling...just makes it harder to get around, comfortably.
Anywho, I'm enjoying the majority of this pregnancy...but, even bending over is no fun. Especially when he reaches up to my neck to stop me from bending over. :) Picture that. :)

Planning day
I am so lucky. ~ish.
We got to plan today for our 6th grade science team. We didn't get the whole day, but we got through 4th period. Did I mention that we had a gas main break at school, too? It didn't affect anyone, really...but was a slightly scary thing for us to think about the potential hazards. It was nice to see how everyone at school was concerned about me...and the bump. My assistant principal came by to check on me and TOLD me to call my doctor to see if I needed to leave, or what to look out for. It was nice. I felt loved.
We did get lots accomplished. We have the rest of the year planned. Lots of stuff for the kids to do, independently...showing off their technology skills. Or lack there of.
So, yeah!
Notice that I actually got on to blogger AT SCHOOL! Yippee!!!

Things I thought I'd never do...
I never thought I would rely on my husband to do anything for me. Seriously. Besides taking out the trash, and killing bugs...I thought that would be all he would NEED to do for me.
He let me know otherwise last night.
*ahem* I need to preface this by apologizing in advance for the content of this blog.
So...I'm sorry.
I was getting ready for bed last night, and my darling hubby said, "Sara...that is getting out of control! Do you want me to help you?"
See...I can't. See, that is. Not without a mirror and some odd positions. I tried on my bathing suit, and looked into the mirror. Yeah. Ew. I was so NOT "summer ready."
So, my darling husband *ahem* helped me "trim away the winter" and "welcome in bikini season."
I never thought my husband would help me in that area...but there are just some things that uber round tummies and non-flexibility will not allow one to do.
That's all I have to say about that. :)
