Sick Boys

Both of my boys are sick.
Caleb has a non-confirmed case of rotovirus.
Owen has a case of stinky diaper & a low grade fever.
Soooooo, I may nave to stay home with both boys tomorrow.
This is not a really big deal. I'd love to spend the day at home with the boys... I don't have tp prep anything for school since I still have my student teacher (for another week, yet).
But, I don't want to use a day so late in the year, & not because the boys are sick. There's really not much I can do to make them feel better... it's just a matter of giving them time.
Oh well... we knew we were signing up for this part, too, when we became parents. Right?

Six teeth and a stormy rainbow

Owen is not even 11 months old, yet. He has six teeth, and is standing on his own (as in, no help from objects or people). He's taken a couple of steps without assistance (but only if he thinks we're not watching).

Stinker. He is so quick that he's escaped a few times when I am mid-diaper change.

Tonight, we are under a severe thunderstorm warning... but, man oh man... look at what GOD gave us to enjoy before the storm. WOW!

Eggspertly done

Not too shabby for my ... I mean OUR first time, huh?
I like how excited Caleb was when he was applying the dye to the one that had his name "magically" written on it. He was so impressed! And, he recognized Owen's name, too. He also squealed when he saw the one with the "up and downs!" (Squiggle line). That was fun. And messy. Thanks to Diane for her eggspert advice!

First Time Egg Dyer

I have never (seriously), never dyed Easter Eggs.

I have also never, never boiled eggs.

So, this morning that is our great adventure.

I found that I should add cold water to cold eggs. Bring to a soft boil on med-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 9 minutes. Remove from heat and fill with cold water. My instructions also say that the eggs must be completely cool and dry, to decorate successfully. So, put them back into the carton and in the fridge? How long should they stay in the cold water before they go into the fridge?

Geez! What a "nube" I am!

Seriously?!

This is evidently how important we are to my SIL - aka "I-me." Saw this last night on face book, and was too mad to think about taking the picture to put into a post. But, here we are.

I don't think her mom/my MIL/my hubby's mommy knows. Hubby called his mommy last night after we saw this and gave lots of open invitations to mention something... and since she didn't mention anything, we assume she doesn't know either. Oh well. Such is the life for us with "I-me."

**Update for clarification**
My SIL is pregnant with baby #2. I found out on facebook on Friday night around 7. On Monday, I finally got ahold of Brant's cell phone and checked his voicemails. (He RARELY checks them.) She had called at 4 pm on Friday and said something to the effect of, "I know it's not very exicting news to you or anything... but you'll be an uncle again in December."

Like we WOULDN'T be excited?! and... she KNOWS he doesn't check his phone... why not call me? OH well. I am happy for them. It's just typical I-ME behavior for her.

My seester is here!

My seester is in town for a couple of days. She had 5 days off in a row and flew away at the first possible moment to come "home." With me teaching all day, I haven't been able to see her so much. But, I am thinking the boys and I will stay at my dad's with her tonight. Maybe I can actually see her tomorrow and we can hang out... but, I'll try to take her to:
  • the Autism Walk at 10 on Saturday...
  • Tater's birthday party at the park after that...
  • Fun fair maybe after nap time?
  • Church on Sunday

Then, she flies away again and heads back to Lost Wages. I don't know how long it'll be until I see her again (in person)... so I want to get in as much seester time as possible. K.

March Memories

My happy, smiling boys:

This is where I found Caleb one evening. He was hiding in the linen closet (WITH THE DOOR CLOSED!!!)... and I guess he got tired of me *knowing* to look for him and fell asleep. - ya know, 'cause I didn't actually know we were playing hide and seek!

When we went to Dallas, Caleb decided to do some deeping thinking...
And some cute posing...

The boys are so cute together, almost always smiling...

Owen tried swimming and LOVED it!

Here, he's helping with the laundry! Big toofs!

And, last but not least. I totally did NOT encourage this behavior and document it for prosperity. MMM-kay, maybe I did. But, it was too cute!!!
So, there you have it. March was fun this year. April is sure to be even more so!

Doing Something Right?

So, I know I've done something right.

Today, we were at a friend's house. A little boy there was being a toot... but eventually decided to play nice with Caleb.

As we were getting buckled in the car, the little boy stops by, AGAIN, to say good-bye to Caleb.

Caleb leans over and says, "Thank you so much for sharing your toys with me."

... totally unprompted and everything. WOW! Maybe I AM doing something right.
