Bluebonnets are blue-ti-ful!!!

I loved taking my boys (and my dad's) pictures yesterday.  Here are just a small smattering of my favorites. Owen is in that "I refuse to look at the camera or smile -- so there" stage.  FUN.  But, lucky for me, he's a cutie even when NOT looking at the camera. Sinker.  Caleb, on the other hand did fantastic!  Such a beautiful - I should say handsome - blond. I am truly blessed!  This one of my dad is his first good shot since my sisters wedding - 4 years ago!  It was time for a new face book profile picture.  NICE!  Anywho, we took most of these at the Llano 4-H club.  It was jam-packed with bluebonnets.  God sure painted a beautiful canvas for us to enjoy!  AWEsome!!!

Mexican Lasagne

Today, Owen had to stay home.  He had a fever of 105 yesterday... turns out he had a minor ear infection in his left ear & a "raging" one in his right ear.  He still has not ever tugged, or rubbed his ears.  Just high fever & crankiness for him. He's tuckered today, putting himself down for several naps on the couch.  Poor baby...
Any who, Since I stayed home with him, I decided to be creative with my cooking for tonight.  I made an oldie-for our family-but a goodie.  And, I took pictures as I went.  Mexican lasagna is one of my F A V O R I T E dinners of all time.  It's super simple and easy to change for your own likes. (OH! I double this recipe for tonight - FYI).

Here's the recipe:
1.5-2 lbs ground beef                         1 can Ro-Tel Tomatoes
1 medium onion, chopped                   6 flour tortillas, quartered
1 can cream of chicken soup                12 oz. Cheddar Jack cheese, grated or shredded
1 can Ranch Style beans
Brown beef & onion.  Drain. Add soup, beans, & Ro-Tel.  Grease casserole dish with Pam.  Line with quartered tortillas.  Add beef mixture, then cheese.  Continue to layer, ending with cheese.  Bake for 20 minutes at 350.  Serve hot. Top with sour cream if desired.

Easter craft

I totally stole this idea from a party I went to a while back.  I had an opportunity to keep/play/entertain my hubby's best friend's kiddo - Corey - this morning and decided to be crafty.  I'm going to stick this in the diaper bag for his mommy & daddy as a surprise.  Cute, huh?

Weekend Adventures

This weekend was so much fun!  Jenni D and I went to the Rodeo Final for our 2nd annual Mommies Night Out.  It was such a blessing to have the time away from the babes and time with adult-type friends.
I found Owen in his crib (after a bit of a tattle from Caleb) sans diaper tonight... So, I had to restage it with camera in hand... and then rediaper & (this time) add pants to the mix.  tee-hee!
Caleb got new sheets and a new big boy comforter for his birthday - from Papa & us.
AND, I finally finished Caleb's letters for above his bed.  We have his name painted on the wall in his old room (now the playroom), and Owen has similar cowboy-themed decorated letters above his bed in their shared room.  Personally, I love the C the most.  I did that by hand, mind you - no stencil used.  (*tooting own horn*)
So, that's our weekend - and, for the record, both boys have been fever free since Saturday.  We did go ahead and "neb" them both tonight... because their coughs are yucky.  But, we are on the mend.

For Holly (train cake)...

This is the idea I was telling you about... how cute!
The tracks are made from kit kats and chocolate syrup.
There are even little trains along the side.  It looks like they might be made with fruit roll-ups or something else gummy-like.  Cute, huh?

5th Birthday (photos galore!)

Wowza!  My big boy is 5!!!

He got a new haircut... as he says, "Mom, since I am five now, I want to have my hair with the *juzsh* in the front." (Picture - if you will - him pointing all his fingers to the bangs area of his hair. hahaha!) So, since it was haircut time anyway... I obliged him. And he is so cute!! (as if he wasn't too cute already! HA!)

His bowling-themed birthday party was OH! so fun!!! :) The cakes were a big hit! I had so much fun making them... but man! I am so glad I only have to do 2 birthdays a year... for now. I am exhausted!

Caution - horn tooting ahead!
YUP, I made this cutie patootie shirt, too!  LOVE IT!!!
Caleb was such a good boy - we wrote his thank you notes right away. OK - so he signed them in pencil, I went over them in marker, and wrote them myself... but hey! We did it and got them out immediately! WOOT!

Goodbye 4... Hello 5!!!

5 years ago today...

We were waiting for you to arrive.
24 hours later, we FINALLY welcomed you with opened arms...
all 6 pounds, 11 ounces of your tiny, skinny self...
Now, as we bid goodbye to your 4th full year... look how big you are!!
Making your own bed!
Playing well with others (aka not knocking down that awesome tower Daddy built) HA HA HA!!
You make us smile and laugh all the time, with those sweet, blue eyes.
Happy 5th birthday, baby! Er - I mean, young man!
I love you Caleb!
Here's a sample of the treats we made together for his school party for tomorrow:
(look for another post this weekend... I am attempting my hand at cake carving & decorating... I am *hoping* for great results... a real "strike!" one might say!)

Blind Scale

So... why is it that other people, and my clothes can see that I've lost weight, but my scale can't?

It's a conundrum, for sure.
